Creating Interfaces with AI

Creating interfaces and controller code has never been easier!

With daqINSIGHT’s line-based scripting interface, it is surprisingly easy for AI to generate both the interface and the microcontroller code needed to interact with it. The following are screenshots of fully operational interfaces generated by AI. AI can also create unique graphics and sound files for an interface, then package everything into a .zip file for easy distribution and use.

Not every project even requires a microcontroller. For example, the memory game runs entirely within daqINSIGHT because no additional processing power is needed. From powerful data acquisition and system interfaces to simple desktop apps and games—the choice is yours!

Train Your AI & Build an Interface

The button below allows you to download a ZIP file containing the interfaces shown above, along with Arduino code for interacting with them. It also includes a ZIP file of training documents with examples and reference information for the AI to learn from. Claude and ChatGPT both build great interface, others were not tested.

Tell the AI that you want it to create a daqINSIGHT interface and ask it to review the training documents as you upload the zipped training file.

Then simply describe what you want your interface to do, whether you want specialized graphics (Claude may ask), and any other information you can provide about your system. If you want it to write the controller code as well, tell it. Otherwise, explain how data will be exchanged with daqINSIGHT.

Give it 5–10 minutes, download the files it creates, and test them out!

It may take some back and forth. Tell the AI about any issues you encounter, and use F4 in daqINSIGHT to copy and send it any errors that are generated.

It is amazingly intuitive and can produce some surprisingly sophisticated, fully operational interfaces.

Video of Some Possibilities!

This video is an overview of many of the interfaces and simulated systems we've designed with AI's help in a week.

Creating an Interface with AI

This next video shows in near real-time training AI and producing interfaces and Arduino code to communicate with the interface. This was the task given once trained with our files (with a couple edits):

I need an interface or HMI/SCADA system for a greenhouse/hydroponics system. I want a daqINSIGHT interface to allow me to monitor and control it. Water is pumped from a reservoir so the level of it needs to be monitored and the pump controlled based on moisture level of the soil that needs to be controlled. To help growth, the greenhouse has a UV lighting system that can be controlled as to brightness. Temperature also needs to be controlled with a heating system which will be automatically controlled based on a setpoint. The data needs to be plotted and metered with alarms, digital values do not need to be plotted, but include indicators of the status of them, such a heater on or pump running. You can choose parameter ranges for controls and alarms. Allow both automatic and manual control of the system. To test it, I need Arduino Uno code to interact with it and simulate the system. Make the system fairly fast responding so it can be tested over a few minutes.

You can tell it to skin it with appropriate graphics and create sound .wav files. We did both ways in this video.

A couple things AI may get wrong though called out in the training docs:

- The image for a plot background must be in the applications \media directory, not the interface's directory. This is a bug. You can have AI make you a plot background, but you must place it yourself in daqINSIGHT\Media and then click the plot, hit F3, find the background property (filter for back) and have it point to the correct background.

- It sometimes gets the path to interface media files incorrect; it should start with [path] which defines the interface path and just tell it: "Paths to your media must include [path] such as [path]media/whatever_media.png"

- Give it feedback on any issues you see.

- Use F4 in the software to see any daqINSIGHT processing errors and feedback to AI for correction.

Add New Controls to your Interfaces!

This next video shows controls used by daqINSIGHT that are external from the application that use Macros, Canvas Controls and images that may be used on interfaces. These were created by AI and with these examples, you or your trained AI agent can create new ones of interest to your projects.

Highlighted Interface - Magnetic Levitating Ball PID Simulation

This AI created interface and Arduino code simulates PID control of a magnetically floating ball by controlling an electromagnet at the top of the frame - We built these for real in a college electronics course using op-amp circuits! Files are included in the AI files download.
